Check the Simple Stuff First

What to check first: Is your thermostat set to “cool” and below the current room temperature? Is it set to “auto” instead of “on”? (When set to “on,” the fan runs constantly even when the system isn’t cooling.) Are the batteries fresh? Next, check that all vents are open and not blocked by furniture or rugs. Finally, look at your circuit breakers—both the indoor and outdoor units have their own breakers, and either one tripping will stop cooling.

Failing Compressor
